Do you have trouble with irritability, temper outbursts or repeated fighting? Is your anger getting you into trouble? If so,You may be suffering from Intermittent Explosive Disorder(IED) and may be eligible to take part in a research study. Dr. Coccaro and his team of researchers at the University of Chicago are seeking volunteers to participate in a research study called Fluoxetine and Divalproex: Treatment Correlates In IED. In this study, we are testing men and women, 21-55 years of age, to see if increasing brain serotonin with Fluoxetine, Divalproex, or placebo (a sugar pill) can reduce the symptoms of IED. This study will require weekly visits for four and a half months. Participants will receive a free medical, behavioral examination and biological testing. All study visits and study medications are provided. Visit us in Hyde Park. Parking in a secure garage is available.
